Foams

Foams

Foam is among the most versatile materials in the converting industry. TPC Converting provides a broad range of open-cell, closed-cell, and solid rubber foams that can be die cut into precise shapes for sealing, cushioning, insulation, and protection. Foam components play essential roles in automotive, electronics, appliance, packaging, and industrial products.

Our capabilities include CNC die cutting, rotary and flatbed die cutting, and slit-to-width production of foam tape to exact specifications. Whether the application requires vibration damping, weatherproofing, or forming a moisture-resistant seal, we can tailor foam materials to meet performance, dimensional, and durability requirements. We offer EPDM, vinyl, neoprene, polyurethane, polyethylene, and acrylic foams with a variety of densities, tensile strengths, and resistances.

Foam converting allows us to support product designers and engineering teams with lightweight, functional, and cost-effective components that meet strict sealing, spacing, thermal, or acoustic requirements.

Some typical foam products and applications include:

  • Foam pads for dashboards, consoles, electronics, and appliance interiors
  • Adhesive-backed foam tapes to secure components subject to vibration
  • Acrylic foam gaskets capable of creating long-lasting, watertight seals
  • Weatherproof foam tape for doors, windows, and enclosure protection
Films

Films

TPC Converting supplies a wide selection of high-performance films engineered for insulation, lamination, and specialty applications. Our films serve customers in the appliance, automotive, building materials, construction, electronics, and consumer product markets.

Plastic films are typically used as part of an end product (e.g., food or packaging films) and may or may not feature adhesive backing, depending on the application’s needs. High-performance films offer elevated mechanical strength, excellent temperature and chemical resistance, and protection against moisture and oxygen. Examples of films include heat-sealable films, flame-retardant films, and other engineered surfaces designed for demanding environmental conditions.

Our converting processes for films include:

  • Cutting
  • Laminating and pre-masking
  • Rewinding and slitting
  • Sheeting
  • Lidding
Surface Protection Films

Surface Protection Films

Surface protection films are specialized films used not as part of an end product but as masking for product surfaces during fabrication, transportation, warehousing, or installation. Our team provides a broad selection of protective films, film tapes, and automated applicator equipment to streamline production.

Plastic film converting, whether for end-product use or surface protection, allows OEMs and manufacturers to enhance product quality and improve the reliability of components exposed to abrasion, chemicals, heat, and installation stress.

Tapes

Pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) tapes are a cornerstone of modern manufacturing because they bond instantly without curing time, deliver consistent performance, and support automated production workflows. PSA tapes can replace mechanical fasteners in many applications while distributing load evenly and improving the finished appearance of products.

TPC Converting specializes in converting performance-driven, cost-effective tapes into custom shapes, rolls, and assemblies that match your exact engineering and process requirements. Our team works with high-performance materials to produce die-cut, slit, and laminated tape solutions for industries such as automotive, appliances, electronics, construction, and general industrial manufacturing.

We work with the following types of tapes:

  • Double-sided tapes for assembly and mounting
  • Acrylic foam tapes for structural bonding and sealing
  • LSE (low surface energy) tapes ideal for plastics and composites
  • High-bond tapes used in permanent fastening applications
  • Transfer tapes for precision lamination and bonding

Adhesives

Adhesives play a vital role in product assembly, component mounting, insulation, and the protection of batteries and electronics. TPC Converting offers custom adhesive solutions, including laminating adhesives to one or both sides of a substrate and producing adhesive patterns on foam, film, rubber, paper, or specialty materials.

From high-performance, pressure-sensitive adhesives to structural bonding systems, we engineer adhesive solutions that meet demanding mechanical, thermal, and environmental requirements.

Our team supports both standard and highly specialized applications, including:

  • Electric Vehicle (EV) Battery Components

Paper

Paper

Paper remains one of the most widely used and adaptable materials in converting. Produced in long, continuous sheets (webs), paper can be transformed through slitting, laminating, sheeting, printing, and die cutting to support packaging, manufacturing, insulation, and processing operations.

In industrial applications, paper converting is focused on performance rather than aesthetics.  Whether you require high-volume production or short-run prototyping, our paper converting capabilities produce consistent, clean, and precisely cut products.

TPC Converting supplies materials and converting capabilities for:

  • Packing papers, including protective wraps and interleaving
  • Liners, which serve as release layers, process aids, or insulators
  • Intermediate paper products that support laminates or multi-layer structures
  • Custom die-cut paper components for containers or packaging inserts

FAQs

What are common applications for converted foam parts?

The most common applications for converted foam parts include:

  • Gaskets and seals. Closed-cell foam prevents leaks and blocks dust in automotive doors, HVAC units, and electrical enclosures.
  • Cushioning and vibration damping. Open-cell foam protects sensitive electronics and appliances from impact and noise.
  • Thermal and acoustic insulation. Foam components help control heat and sound in vehicles, appliances, and industrial equipment.

What are converted plastic films used for?

Converted plastic films can be used for many things, including:

  • Electrical insulation in electronics and EV systems
  • Surface protection for screens, Class A automotive parts, and metal components
  • Lidding films for TV dinners/microwave meals

What are common applications for converted tapes?

These are the most common applications for converted tapes:

  • Bonding and mounting with high-strength double-coated tapes
  • Masking during painting, powder coating, or sandblasting
  • EMI/RFI shielding using conductive foil tapes

How are adhesives "converted"?

They are converted when the adhesive is applied to another material. The most common pressure-sensitive adhesive converting method is laminating, where a PSA is bonded to foam, rubber, film, or paper to create a ready-to-use adhesive component.

What are converting processes for paper?

Industrial paper converting includes:

  • Slitting and rewinding rolls into narrower widths
  • Sheeting rolls into custom-sized sheets
  • Die-cutting paper into gaskets, insulators, or protective inserts
